Lake Schluchsee

Formed during the last ice age, by the glaciation of the Feldberg area, the original Schluchsee was 3 km long. Between 1929 and 1932, the construction of Schluchsee Dam raised the water level by 30 m, creating a reservoir 7.5 km long and up to 1.5 km wide. Today it is the largest lake found in the Black Forest area.
